cie. toula limnaios

“Toula Limnaios’ choreographies are always documents of destabilization. Her existentialistic plunges to the depths of the soul have earned her an exceptional position in the German dance scene. The sophisticated visual aesthetics of the pieces never cease to impress.” (Tagesspiegel, Sandra Luzina)

The current and one of the most successful ensembles for contemporary dance in Germany cie. toula limnaios, was founded in Brussels by the choreographer and performer Toula Limnaios and the composer Ralf R. Ollertz and is based in Berlin since 1997. Its picturesque language, the close connection between music and dance and the continuous work with an ensemble makes the company an exceptional phenomenon of the independent scene. In 2001 it was awarded the development prize of the Meeting Neuer Tanz and shortly thereafter opened its own theater - HALLE TANZBÜHNE BERLIN, which has been established internationally since then. In 2012 the cie. toula limnaios received the George Tabori prize. Its broad repertoire of 32 works can be seen on German stages as well as internationally in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, France, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Greece, Poland, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland, Ecuador and Venezuela.

"The cie. Toula limnaios is the first address for modern dance made in Berlin." (ND)
